Beef In Red Wine
Recipe Ingredients
½ kg shin of beef
25g lard
50g streaky bacon,rinded and chopped
1 tablespoon flour
¼ pt beef stock
¼ pt red wine
Salt and pepper
Recipe Method
Melt lard then add beef and fry briskly until sealed and brown. Drain and place in a casserole dish.
Add bacon and onions to the pan and fry for 1 min, sprinkle in the flour and allow to brown, gradually add the stock and wine stirring continuously.
When the sauce has thickened add the seasoning to taste and pour over the meat. Cook the covered casserole at 180c/350f or gas 4 for 21/2 – 3 hrs till tender
