Great Dunstone Farm Dartmoor Hill Ponies

Dartmoor Hill ponies have been kept by the Mann family for four generations. They are kept in a traditional way, grazing the open Moorland throughout the year. The ponies are brought back to the farm during the autumn drifts so that they can be inspected for health and also to wean the foals from their mothers.

In the past Richard and Caroline have sold their ponies privately and also sold some at the annual pony markets in Chagford. However, they are thinking of keeping more ponies to be sold privately and from September will have a selection of foals for sale.

Dartmoor Hill ponies make fantastic children’s or small adults ponies and can go on to make excellent riding, driving or showing ponies. Their calm, quiet temperament means that once they are used to being around people they are willing to do most things. They also have great characters which makes them great fun to be around and thus excellent for teaching children and adults.
